Gall Bladder Surgery Food Allergy?!

Question:

Gall Bladder Surgery Food Allergy?

My Mom had her gall bladder removed and had a relaspe two weeks later of nausea. The doctors seem to think she is now lactose intolerant. Anyone else experienced this?

Answers:

I had a cystoctomy and for almost a month afterwards I was on tubes for everything.
About a fortnight after getting 'back on my feet' I went through a terrible period when I couldn't take food or liquid. Everything tasted /smelled vile. Even pure water stank awful and I just couldn't take it. I got very very ill and had to go back into clinic for another couple of weeks back on tubes.
Then one 'great' day all the nausea and revulsion left me and I started my full recovery.
My surgeon (Professor of Urology) told me that although such severe reactions are not common, many patients, who have undergone serious urological surgery, do get intolerant of many of the foods they had previously enjoyed.
Your mother's problem sounds very similar. I know what she is suffering and wish her a speedy recovery. Tell her not to worry it will all come right in the end.
