What to do about cancer of the spleen?!
Question:
What to do about cancer of the spleen?
Answers:
The spleen is an organ in the body that is relatively non-essential. You can have it surgically removed. However, you do not give enough information here . . what stage is the disease? Has it metastasized? Treatment is determined by the stage of the disease and whether it is just in the spleen or is outside the spleen invading other tissue?
My son had his cancerous spleen removed over a year ago and takes Bactrim and Penicillin regularly now. He also has a flu shot once a year and I think he had a pnuemonia shot also. He hasn't had any problems at all associated with the loss of the spleen.
