What are two separate diseases/disorders that meet these criteria?!

Question:

What are two separate diseases/disorders that meet these criteria?

I'm writing a story, and to fulfil the plot, three characters need to enter the hospital. I have decided that one will enter with cancer, but I'm unsure how the other two should enter.

The one is for a girl, I'm looking for a disease or a disorder similar to Hepatitis B (but doesn't require exposer to others bodily fluids): one that requires a lot of rest and can be cureable either through surgery or treatment. If it is a disorder, It needs to be one that doesn't need attention until very early adulthood. This character will spen a significant amount of time within the hospital grounds.

The other is for a boy. I'm looking for a disease/disorder (if possible, one that can cause death in one whose immune system is weak from stress). This disease should be subtle (this character will come to the hospital frequently for check-ups, but will not stay there), but within the course of two years will result in this character's death at the age of 19 or 20.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The boy's disease/disorder should be more subtle, because he will attempt to hide the fact that he is aleing, until it reaches its most critical stage.

He will be living at home and continue working.

The girl's condition can be with her through her childhood, but should be able to spend some time at school (high school especially).

It is also important that she spend a conciderable abount of time in the hospital/hospital grounds starting around age 18-20.

It is also pretty important that this condition is cureable by treatment/surgery. (I'm leaning more towards surgery).

Answers:

The 1st one could be "Fanconi anemia". It starts in childhood and weakens the bone marrow requiring treatment throughout life and especially as the person grows older. Research the disease a bit; It may fit your 1st character.

2nd - Lupus - This can be mild and then turn severe resulting in death

Good luck w/ your story
