Why won't my warts go away?!

Question:

Why won't my warts go away?

Ever since I was 14, I started getting warts. A couple have gotten so big a doctor had to either cut or burn them off.. which is not pleasant. Anyways.. now they have spread ALL OVER my hands.. 16 total I've counted. I've tried every over the counter product and I can not afford to go to the doctor and have them do something about all of these. I've heard there's some way to do it with duct tape.. but I'm not sure. Someone PLEASE give me some advice what to do. I'm so self concious about them.. and I'm sick of hiding my hands in my pocket.. it's so disgusting and I feel like a gross monster.. What can I do??

Answers:

I had one on my pointer finger that survived every OTC treatment from the age of 14 until I was almost 30. I did do the duct tape bit and after two tries that nasty thing never came back... I reported the results to my wife and she laughed. She works in the medical field and told me that truthfully there isn't a whole lot you can do about them except wait them out, let them run their course. (Easy for a person without a wart to say, huh?) She told me that a wart is like a virus and when you use these treatments, if they don't kill every scintilla of virus in the wart, the wart will come back. That makes some sense. I have read (on yahoo I think,) that some Dane doctors had done a very extensive study with freezing, burning, and duct tape and found that none of the above worked any better than the other, and basically reiterated what the wife said. "If the virus isn't completely disabled the wart will come back."
Try the duct tape anyway.
