Question: Is the HPV (gardisil) shot ineffective if you've already had sex!?
if it is, is it more effective if you don't have sex for a month before you get it!? not sure where i heard that!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

HPV Shot protects you against 4 different strands of HPV!. There are about 30 strands in total!.
The 4 that it protects you against are 2 which cause warts and the 2 which cause most of the cervical cancers!.
So yes if you have had sex before and you are positive for HPV!. DEFINATELY go and get the shot!. Because the shot will protect you against the other 3 Strands!.
If you have had sex and have not contracted HPV or you might not know if you have contracted HPV, STILL get the SHOT!
The reason why they say it is more effective if you haven't had sex, is because there is no way you will have any form of HPV yet!. Meaning once you have had the shot you will be immune to all 4 strands prior to the risk of contracting one!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I got my second shot 2 weeks ago the doc told me it is intended for girls who are not sexually active, because if you have HPV obviously it wont be effective, but if you have and you tested negative for HPV it is effective!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
well of course its better to get the shot before you become sexually active because then you are protected before you are exposed to HPV, but the tests show even girls that have sex become just as protectedWww@Answer-Health@Com
As long as you don't have HPV already you should be fine ( and if you already had HPV you wouldn't need the shot sooo)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
