Bright red blood in stool?!

Question:

Bright red blood in stool?

Okay, I've noticed for about a week now that whenever I use the restroom- there's this bright red blood-and not just a little bit- in the toliet. I've read about this on the internet and some people say that I should get it checked out, other's say it's nothing. I don't have any other symptoms. I'm a white female, aged 13.

Answers:

It can be as simple as food poisoning caused from meats and in that case you would need anti-biotic

it could be from hemorrhoids but at your age it is not common

But there are some bowel disorders that are very serous
and you do need to go to the Dr's and please tell your Mom right away.

Now to see whether you need to go the the E.R. or wait to go to your family Doc
ask your self the following ??'s

are you dizzy light headed
are you short of breath
do you find it hard to think
do you have a bad headache
do you ears ring
are you very tired
are you vomiting (throwing up)
do you have tummy pain

you said you are losing frank blood (bright red)
what colour is your stools (poop) is it dark black and tarry or like coffee grounds the black it blood that is lost from higher up the bright red blood is lost somewhere in the last three feet of the bowel and the black or darker is from higher up

if your stools are dark you need to go to the hospital now because you are losing more blood than you think you are
if not and you are not having any other symptoms phone the family Doc in the morning

Keep track of how many times you are going to the toilet

PLEASE TELL ONE OF YOUR PARENTS
AND YOU NEED TO SEE A DR.
