I have been on my period for the past three weeks what can it be.?

I have been on my period for three weeks now and i have been having craps all this time. I had just finished my period at the beginning of the month and it started again. and i hae been on it for three weeks and its been really heavy. Please help what can it be???????

At one point this year I got my period and it just wouldn't go away. It was awful. I also started to have sharp/cramping pains on my side. I went to the doctor and it turned out that I had an ovarian cyst. That may not be the case with you but that is what ended up being the situation for me. I would go to the gyno and have an examination done to know for sure.
