I had a cold about 3 or so weeks back. the cold went away on its own after one week but i have been stuck with the cough! i don't produce anything when i cough...its a dry cough.....my throat just itches which makes me cough.......its really beginning to get on my nerves.....could it be my allergies? when i went to the doc for the cold he told me it was viral........but could the cough just be from seasonal allergies? if it was bronchitis or something like that wouldn't i produce something when i cough?

A cough from a cold or bronchitis (which is just the inflamation of the bronchioles in your lungs) can last up to two months after the cold or infection is gone. I've had unproductive coughs last up to six weeks before... it's normal. If it gets too bothersome, you could try a cough suppressant.
