Do dermatologists still prescribe Accutane?!
Question:
Do dermatologists still prescribe Accutane?
My doctor won't prescribe it for me but I was wondering if I should go see a dermatologist...i've taken it before and it worked great but then pregnancy screwed up my skin again and now my doctor said they don't give it to women anymore because of all the stuff that can go wrong blah blah blah.. anyways, thanks!
Answers:
Yes, they do, but there are other, newer drugs that have less side effects. Doctors will eventually prescribe it, usually, if other drugs are not working. Women of child bearing age must either use birth control, or sign a release that they understand that accutane causes severe birth defects. Many doctors are using Retin A in combination with oral antibiotics. Have you tried Proactiv? I've used just about everything, but its working pretty well for me.
