I don't know about causing an actual asthma attack but stress does cause anxiety attacks and shortness of breath is a characteristic of an anxiety attack!. You need to talk to your doctor about this there are relaxing and calming techniques that can help calm you down!.Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
