Additional Details

Well, my grandfather always had a lot of problems with blood clots and for some reason over the last week or so the area behind my ankle is very sore, stiff and it feels swollen, nothing has been helping, my boyfriend tried to massage it last night and he said it felt like I had some sort of fluid sacs around the area, and them broke um some and came back rigtd away...I've always thought I've had circulation problems because I'm alwyas cold and my legs get ice cold and turn purple. Something I should have checked out? Or should I just take it easy for awhile till it feels better?

Answers:

yes, blood clotting problems are hereditary. I have a clotting problem (they ran tests after my stroke and it was dxed as a genetic muttation). Other hereditary clotting problems ar F V Leiden, APS, etc. below are links to FV Leiden and a blood clotting support group I frequent. hope this helps.

If you are really worried you might have one, go to your MD and ask for a script to have a doppler done on your ankle (it's a sonogram--perfectly painless) & it can tell you right away if you have a clot. good luck.
