Symptoms of sun-sensitive skin?

My husband (who is very fair skinned) gets these break-outs of light blotches with scaly skin during the summer months. His skin under the splotches is irritated and inflamed. Could someone give recommendations to alternative treatments for this type of dermatitis?

BTW, these splotches are on his face only (at the hairline, eyebrowns, cheeks and forehead).

i get that sometimes. its a type of heat rash. use GOLD BOND body powder. you can get it anywhere - target, longs, etc.
