Can diabetics eat salt at all?!

Question:

Can diabetics eat salt at all?

Answers:

Yes, diabetics can eat salt.

Dietary restrictions for people with diabetes vary drastically from person to person. For the most information on your personal dietary needs, consult your doctor, nutritionist or diabetes educator.

As with anyone, people with diabetes must watch their diet, and eat things like salt and sugar in moderation. Neither sugar nor salt are outlawed; both are found in nearly every type of food you eat. As a type 1 diabetic myself, I can eat whichever foods I choose as long as I make good choices when it comes to portions size and *balanced* levels of nutrients. And of course, I always make sure I take enough insulin.
