Colposcopy results show lesions, but not HPV?!

Question:

Colposcopy results show lesions, but not HPV?

My doctor wasnt sure what was wrong. But she told me it wasn't HPV. She wants me to repeat the test in 6 months. Ok, so if not HPV, what is it?? She told me not to worry.. but I can't help it. What if its herpes? I dont sleep around, but I've had sex. Would the doctor be able to tell from the colposcopy if it were herpes? I don't show any signs, but I read that sometimes people show no symptoms. Please help, if you can. I'm very worried about all this.

Answers:

The pap test can tell you if you have HPV. If she said you don't and that something else caused lesions.. I'd have to ask what kind of lesions.

Herpes is pretty distinct looking. If there was a question you had herpes, then your doctor can run a blood test to see if you've ever had an infection and if you have an active infection. sometimes people have no signs but that's after their first outbreak.
