Dark purple spots on upper lip?
My boyfriend is Italian and has normal colored lips (pinkish red) I have been with him for 5 years and recently noticed a couple dark purple spots on his upper lip. They seemed to have just appeared within the last month or so. What IS that?
Is it a sign of an STD?? Its the kind of purple that some african american lips have, like if it werent just a spot, and his entire lip was this way, it would look like some darker african american lips (I am not saying this in any offensive way whatsoever, it is just how I am referencing color)
Any ideas?

it could be b/c of his italian descent. does he have an olive colored skin? gets real tan? it may be due to the sun but, i know my dentist always keeps an eye on marks such as those. my son had a freckle on his lip and they watched it to make sure it didn't grow or change color.
