Question: What 2 expect after 1st chemo treatment!?
my mom has breast cancer & is having her 1st TC chemo treatment 2mrw!. what should we expect after!? how long will she feel sick after, how long are the treatments!? how long after will she lose her hair!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

hey i know the previous posts have been helpful but i feel like i should share my thoughts!. I'm doing chemotherapy currently, i just finished my second session yesterday!. i dont have breast cancer, but Hodgkin's lymphoma, but the chemo drugs may be similar!. i felt nauseous after about 3 hours of treatment on the first day and the whole day for the second and third day (thats when my cycle ends) but i'm given a drug called zofran, which is supposed to really help nausea, but for me it doesnt really help!. as for the hair part, my hair started to fall out excatly on the 12th day after the first day of chemo!. good luck i hope i helped!Www@Answer-Health@Com
Chemo is tough, but it's not the nightmare that it was 20 years ago!. They've come a long long way with new medications!. My wife had breast cancer, and went through chemo!. She did get sick after the first treatment, but they immediately adjusted her meds, and she never threw up again!. I understand that many if not all chemo patients now, don't throw up at all!. She was definitely tired after each treatment, but it wasn't horrible!. I think she started to lose her hair around 2 weeks after the first treatment!. We just got some clippers and clipped it off when it started to fall out!. It's just hair, and it grew back!. She wore a number of fancy hats!. We got her a wig, but she didnt wear that much!. For us, it wasnt a big deal about the hair!. We went out to restaurants and she was comfortable just being bald, but that's a personal choice!. The main thing I want to convey is that chemo wasn't the horrible nightmare that I thought it would be!. I had always heard stories that it was so bad that people would choose to die rather than go through it!. Not so anymore!. It's tough, it's a challenge but it is very, very do-able!. Everyone is unique but the side effects tend to be milder in the first cycle, worse, in the 2nd!. Nausea being the most common!. Hair loss might show up later!.
