Your doctor is the best place to start - he/she will possibly organise either a referral straight to an orthopaedic surgeon or get xrays done first, then based on those, look at a surgeon for you.
Have you researched hip resurfacing? That is an alternative procedure that may be possible for you. Depends on how much damage has been done to the femoral head and acetabulum (socket). It will also buy you some time before you go for a hip replacement, as generally they can only do 2-3 THR's, depending on how much bone is cut away the first time and other technical aspects.
