Why is only 1 tonsil swollen ?!

Why is only 1 tonsil swollen ?
Only my left tonsil is swollen and has pus on it..it hurts pretty bad too. does anyone know what is going on with it? or how to make the swelling go down? please help!

This sounds like an infection. See a doctor.
I don't know why it is only on one side, but may spread to the other. Or maybe there was an opening or injury that let germs in on that side. Sometimes your body can fight these things off, but it is safer to go to the doctor and see if you need an antibiotic. Until you get to the doc, gargle with germ killing mouthwash or at least salt water.
