What is translucent chromosome disorder (21 & 10)?

my daughter is meant to have it and I have to be tested. Where can I find out about it?

Should be 23 & 10. I do not have any more info as this was just passed on to me by my daughters mother.

I have not heard of this disorder perhaps you could check the information as to the name & what the numbers of the chromosome are. From the info I guess that it might be trisomy X syndrome that you are refering to (X is chromosome 23 for females whereas males have a Y at 23). Also Chromosomes mostly appear translucent, but in the cells of female mammals, because there are 2 X chromosomes, one sister of the XX pair remains shut off in a corner, tightly bundled and dark.

Here is some basic info which may also be of use:-

Chromosomes are tightly coiled microscopic rod-like structures of DNA and protein that are found in the nuclei of eukaryotic cells. Each chromosome contains a single molecule of DNA. The nucleus of most human cells contains two sets of chromosomes, one set given by each parent. Each set has 23 single chromosomes--22 autosomes (chromosomes 1-22) and one pair of sex chromosomes (XX for females or XY for males normally), so there are normally 46 chromosomes per cell in total.

The presence of a chromosome (or portions of a chromosome) in triplicate rather than duplicate is called trisomy. Most trisomies are lethal and are spontaneously aborted. Of those that occur in liveborn infants, the most common autosomal trisomies are trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) which occurs in about 1 in 700 births in North America; trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome) which occurs in about 1 in 7,500 births; and trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome) which occurs in about 1 in 15,000 births.
Trisomy of the sex chromosomes can also occur and XXY boys or XXX girls may be somewhat more likely to have learning difficulties as they tend to have a slightly lower IQ than normal.
Trisomy X syndrome also called Triple-X syndrome (XXX).
results from an extra copy of the X chromosome in each of a female's cells. Females with trisomy X have three X chromosomes, for a total of 47 chromosomes per cell.
XXX girls tend to be tall and thin and are often shy. They have a higher incidence of dyslexia. They are fertile and their children do not inherit the condition.
There is also a condition called Turner syndrome (X instead of XX or XY). In Turner syndrome, female sexual characteristics are present but underdeveloped. People with Turner syndrome often have a short stature, low hairline, abnormal eye features and bone development and a "caved-in" appearance to the chest.
