How soon after having sex with someone that has hepatits c can you be diagnosed/!
Question:
How soon after having sex with someone that has hepatits c can you be diagnosed/?
Answers:
Hep C is rarely transmitted through sex unless there is blood to blood contact. There is less than a 3% chance of infection through sex in monogamous stable relationships. However, if one partner is coinfected with HIV & HCV, the sexual transmission rate rises to above 30%. Also, men having sex with men is a higher rate of transmission, as well as rough sex, kinky practices where blood may be involved.
So.... hep c is not a STD. If you're not sure or you want to be sure, get tested. It takes from 2-24 weeks from the time of exposure to show up on antibody tests. Best wishes to you.
