Black bugs?!

Black bugs?

There are tiny black bugs in my daughter's hair. She says they itch like crazy and finds 10 or so everyday while in the shower. A few weeks ago she had tiny black dots that came off when she scratched her head just after going to the beach. Just this week she started finding the bugs. They are about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch and have no wings. What do you think they are and how do you get rid of them?

Aren't lice white though?

Unfortunately, my niece and nephew have had a few rounds of this thanks to improper check ups at the schools. It's definately lice. Use a Lice Shampoo like Rid, and the little comb. As gross as it is, make sure that each bug you pull from her hair you squash with the edge of the comb on a paper towel.

You also need to spray all the big furniture in your house with a Lice Spray and wash everything else on the hot setting of your washer (aka, ALL her clothes, bed stuff, stuffed animals, etc. etc. etc.), Steam clean your carpets also if you can, if not then spraying them should be effiecient enough.

While most ppl believe that lice can not survive without a human to feed off of, it's been proven that lice can survive for a matter of days until they find a new head or body part to nest in.

Make sure everyone else in your house also uses the shampoo and has a sweep with the lice combs (only after rinsing it in boiling water after each person though).

It's very uncomfortable and extremely painful (you will end up pulling out alot of hair...but thankfully hair grows back) but in the end, it's much better than the damage of not taking care of it.
