clearly quinine is the best know, although there are now drugs that work better.
there is a very good article in the current National Geographic, that's not too long.
if you pass a library, you might read it.
it says that malaria may have killed 1/2 the humans that have ever lived on this earth.
and still kills 20% of children up to age 5, in areas where (A) it's strongly epidemic, and (B) there is little, if any, health care.
quite an eye opener.
