Question: White patches on tonsils!?
ok so for about a week i have had swollen glands in my throat then i started to have pain in my glands but no soar throat!.!.!.!. then a couple days later i had a low grade fever of 99!.9 and a headache!. i looked in my throat and saw puss pockets on both tonsils!.!.!. i took some ibprofen and then went to sleep!.!.!.!.(still no soar throat) i looked in my throat today and there were no white spots just holes in my tonsils where they were!.!.!.really weird!.!. i have had strep throat a million times in my life and this wasn't strep i even did a rapid strep at work and it came out neg!. now my glands are slightly swollen still and im not sure what it was that i had!.!.!.!. i had mono when i was 17 and i was checked for ebv and i don't have a current infection!.!.!.!.along with this i have had recurrent yeast infections for 8 months now!.!.!.!. i am currently on diflucan 200mg daily for 7 days!.!.!.!. pls help!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Acute tonsillitis is caused by the streptococcus infection and is characterized by severe sore throat, fever, headache, difficulty swallowing, enlarged, tender lymph nodes in the neck!. With the strep, throat and tonsils are covered in white patches!. Not all of the quick test for strep are accurate!. You should be seeing your doctor and get the strep test again!. This sounds like strep and you do have all the symptoms!. When I do a strep test on my patients, I take the rapid strep test, I will also do blood work!. Many times the rapid test is not enough and the blood work will come back positive!. It really sounds like it so please, go back to the MD and have it checked again
EDIT: I just read Lucretia's answer and she is correct!. I had my tonsils out at 17 because I was constantly getting tonsilitis!. Doctors today do not like taking tonsils out mainly because they feel the tonsils serve a purpose for stopping many other bacterial infections!. They think the tonsils are sort of a collecting spot for bacteria which is why we get tonsilitis but they also feel it's better to be in the tonsils than somewhere else where it may do more harm!. I don't know how good this therory is as a lot of kids get tonsilitis!. My daughter got it once every month when she was 3 and they would not remover her tonsils!. I was angry about that because with the tonsilitis came ear infections as well!. Who knows, in the next 10 or 20 yrs they may revise their way of thinking!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Drink plenty of water and take vitamins!.

Why on earth haven't your doctors recommended a tonsillectomy for you: Strep throat repeatedly and taking tons of antibiotics are not good for your immune system!. I had the same issues, had them suckers removed when I was around 20 and haven't had a sore throat since, well maybe a little, but no more strep or tonsillitis after years of suffering!. How are your sinuses!? Do you get frequent colds and/or sinus infections!. I had years of both and finally had sinus surgery, and now I am finally normal!.!.!.!.well relatively!. Go see an ENT specialist, and get to the root of your problems!. He can do cultures and scope
