Its when too much bacteria grows in the air pockets in the tampon and get absorbed into your body!.!.!.
change tampons frequently( every 4-6 hours) and they say to use pads at night because your apt to sleep all night and leave it in for too long!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Firstly its very rare, they just write it on the tampon packs so you don't sue them!. It generally occurs if you leave a tampon in for more than 24hrs (although a friend of mine left a tampon in for a week and was OK) or of you have an allergic reaction to the material in the tampon itself!. If you get a temperature, rash, vomiting & confused take the tampon out immediately and call you GP!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
TSS is caused by a bacterial infection, so my guess is that it would be from having it in too long!. However, if insertion caused any tiny, minor abrasions or anything, that open wound can easily become infected as well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Having it in too long, read the literature in every tampon box, it's very rare, how many people do you know that have actually had it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
