Fluid in back hocks?!

Fluid in back hocks?

my mare worked quite hard last wk,she had an hours lesson lots of ground work on her bending etc,on the saturday un a show on sunday just 2 jumping rounds un a rider ability round. 2 days later she had a fair bit of fluid in her back hocks,Did she just do too much or is it the start of a problem?? she was'nt lame thro,Thanks Gail x


Answers:

my god, i bet the poor girl was exhausted! i would think that its just a collection of fluid after such vigorous excercise. was she walked to cool down properly? was she turned out or kept in? if she was stabled she may have needed a bit more walking. i'm sure she will be fine, just take it easy in case she's a bit sore for a couple of days.
my boys would have gone on strike if i'd given them that much excercise in one go!
