Can i have children if i have liver disease and take multiple medications?!

Question: Can i have children if i have liver disease and take multiple medications!?
Answers:
The answer is, yes, you can physically have children!. The question, is what kind of children would you have!?
Liver disease is serious and can cause serious complications in the mother and baby!. Liver disease can result in low platelet counts, anemia, portal hypertension, etc!. The liver will also not be producing the proteins needed for the mother or baby!. This can lead to severe birth defects in the child!.

The one person posted about their mother having liver disease and having children!. Their mother had Hep B, based on the medication she is taking!. This is transmitted by blood and is treated with medication and vaccines!. Most people can recover from Hep B and only in rare cases does it progress to End Stage Liver Disease!.

If your liver disease is mild in nature, such as Fatty Liver, and the liver functions are not compromised, then it may be ok!. You should check with a hepatologist and a pedatrician!. I repeat the word AND!. Not one or the other, but both!. Having a child with liver problems is something that needs to be carefully considered, not only for the mother, but for the outcome of the child!.

Depends on the degree of compromised liver you have!. If your liver is barely functioning to maintain your own health, then it would not be able to support a pregnancy (where your caloric and metabolic needs increase greatly)!. Diabetes also decreases your chance of a successful pregnancy outcome!.
If you have cholestatic liver disease, cirrhosis or fatty liver, then your chances of a successful pregnancy are very low!.
Talk with your hepatologist or internal medicine doc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Liver conditions can worsen during pregnancy, my Step-Brother's girlfriend had something quite serious during her first pregnancy and the hospital put her on medication that made her kid quite sick (she's 7 now and perfectly healthy)!. The same condition returned during her second pregnancy, but they delivered the baby early before she deteriorated further and she is back to normal health now and the baby is not unwell!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
