Hi,

I don't know how old you are, but I'm 17 and when I was 15, I had a very similar experience to yours!. My right breast was extremely painful for a day and when I got undressed at night, I found yellow discharge in my bra and a big lump in my breast!. I got so unbelievably scared! I must have cried for at least 3 hours and was so worried that I had breast cancer!. Anyway, I managed to get to the Docs about three days later!. During that time I was constantly worried and kept crying! Turns out it was just a big cyst!. I was so relieved!. I was given a 2 week course of antibiotics!. But at the end of the course, nothing had changed!. So I went back, got another course of antibiotics and this time, they worked! The pain and lump went away!! Yay!

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is "don't panic!"!. It's a horrible feeling, you can't explain it and you can't stop thinking about it!. It's frightening and scary!.!.!.but the important thing is that it's not cancer!. If it's painful, it's not cancer!. If the Doctor has prescribed you antibiotics, it must mean they've probably diagnosed it as a cyst, which is just an infection!. Go to your appointment tomorrow!. It'll be fine!. Explain to the doctor that the antibiotics haven't done the job and that maybe you need another course!.

I hope everything goes well and that this answer has helped you!.

I don't know how true this is, but when I had painful lumps, everyone told me they were cysts and that's what they wound up being!. Usually if it's painful, it's not cancer!.

But I know it's scary, hang in there, good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No all breast lumps are cancerous!. Keep the appointment tomorrow!. It is important, I understand that you are scared but you really need to do this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The lumps could be calcium deposits!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

From your Q&A I gather you're 21 years old!. Breast cancer at your age is almost unheard of; it's mainly a disease of ageing - 80% of those diagnosed are over 50 and it's rare in women under 40 and extremely rare in women under 30!.

Most breast lumps, even in women over 50, aren't cancerous!. Most women diagnosed with breast cancer have felt no pain!.!.

You say everyone in your family has cancer; in fact hereditary cancer is rare - fewer than 10% of all cancer cases are hereditary!. A sign that cancer may be hereditary within a family is when several members of the same side of the family have had the same type of cancer; several family members having had different cancers is not hereditary and doesn't increase your risk of cancer - you don't inherit a general tendency to get cancer!.

If several members of your family have had breast cancer, then you have cause for concern about a possible inherited faulty gene!. If they haven't, you are not at increased risk of breast cancer!.

You aren't going to stop worrying, but I hope the facts I've given you help you feel a little less scared as you wait for your appointment!.

And of course you must keep your appointment tomorrow, you know that!. It's far more likely that it's nothing serious but you must get it checked out!.

Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
