Cold Sores ,at what stage are they contagious?!

Question: Cold Sores ,at what stage are they contagious!?
A friend of mine often has cold sores on her upper lip, she has a habit of always greeting everyone with a quick mouth to mouth greeting, at what stage is the cold sore contagious !? she gave me a quick peck before I realized she had one at the time, does that mean I now have the herpes virus !? or it it only contagious if my skin is broken on the lip!? please give well informed answer as our other friends are also worried about this habitWww@Answer-Health@Com

Whenever she has an active sore, she is shedding virus!.
She should not be kissing people when these lesions are present!.
yes, she is contagious!.

While it is true that 60% of the general population is carrying this virus by the age of 20, it is still not something that should be spread around so carelessly!. I'm sure you will not appreciate it if you get it and then have to live with recurrent sores the rest of your life!.

No, the virus does NOT have to encounter broken skin in order to infect you -- contact with normal skin is all that is necessary!. You may or may not have contracted it -- no need to panic, but all you can do is watch and wait to see if you get a skin sore!. Hopefully not, if your contact was minimal and brief, but you just cannot tell!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Everyone has the virus that causes cold sores, you get it from kissing, not just a BF but anyone at all, and it is highly contagious!. I would say your friend has outbreaks coz she does not eat properly her immune system is down and therefore the constant cold sores!. It does not matter if the sores are apparent or not you already have the virus!. So take care of you and dont make facial contact with your pal and btw tell her to greet ppl with a simple "hello!." Yes "cold sores" are contagious"!! Our mouths are one of the most disease carrying part of the body!. She has to be spoken to about her lifestyle more then the way she greets you !!! But "straight up" with her ( be gentle )and let her know that you do not wish to catch anything from her or anyone else!. MAYBE SHE WILL BE MORE CAUTIOUS ON WHAT SHE PUTS HER MOUTH ON !!! people lives are at stake !. good question !!Www@Answer-Health@Com
