Most of thepatients we see in the ER have a bloodsugar over 400!. My advice would be to take your insulin, drink plenty of water, and recheck your sugar in an hour!. If it's still trending up, go to the ER!. If you dont take insulin, drink plenty of water, this helps drop your sugar, recheck in a hour!. if it's still going up see a doctorWww@Answer-Health@Com
You may be able to get away with taking your insulin and calling your doctor, depending on how fast acting your insulin is!. If it's regular insulin recheck sugars in about 30 min and see where it's at!. Make sure you eat also so that you don't become hypoglycemic!. You should be checking your blood sugar at regular intervals!. It is easier to manage your blood sugar that way!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
You have to be in the 400's or higher, usually the 500's, to bother going to the hospital!. Since you're under 300, go for a 30-minute brisk walk if you're a Type 2, or give yourself some insulin if you're a Type 1, but you should already know that!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
You do not need to go to the hospital until sugars are in 400 range!. I would call you doctor but blood sugars go higher when you are sick !. So if you have the flu your sugars will be higher!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
