If it's not pneumonia, then what?!

Question: If it's not pneumonia, then what!?
I've been feeling crappy for almost 2 weeks!. This last week has been the worst!. It seems like I've got all the symptoms of pneumonia, except for the fever!. And it's been very difficult for me to cough up anything!. When I do, it's very little and clear!. At night it's the worst!. I have to sleep sitting upright, or else it's hard to breath!. And when I'm breathing, there's a wheezing sound!. I can feel something in my chest, sometimes it's like a knocking sound!.
I can't really go to a doctor!. I have no insurance and I'm too poor to afford anything really!. I've tried taking medicine with expectorant, but it doesn't seem to be helping me cough anything up!.
I'm a smoker, but I literally haven't been able to smoke in a week!. If I try taking even the tiniest puff, I start hacking my lungs off!. So I've basically quit, which is good!.
I'm 25!. What the hell is wrong with me and will I ever get better!? This is torture, especially at night!.

I would go back to your doc even if it's just to get something to help you sleep!.

It's properly a cold/flu bug going around and there are alot about at the mo!. I know this isn't your answer but just ordinary paracetamol/neufen will work just as good as anything else aantibiotics won't work neither so you have to ride it out!. Im 24 and and had something similar not too long ago, i also smoked but couldn't at the time which i think makes it worst because then your lungs are trying to clear out at the same time!.I think i have it for about 4 weeks!. yes 4 but it will go just have to up ur vitamin C so when it has gone you don't catch anything else cos ur immune system is week/

You may want to check you don't have asthmaWww@Answer-Health@Com

from what you have said, I would say asthma, emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, even walking pnuemonia which doesn't usually produce fever, but is indeed pnuemonia!.
good thing you quit smoking, it is probably why you are sick now, smokers always get respiratory diseases!.!.!. suggest that unless you want to spend what remains of your life in this state, you see a doctor!. There is financial help available for medical care, look into it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Could be COPD, tuberculosis, bronchitis, etc!. You must see a doctor!. Call some doctors and ask if they will accept payment plans, if you are poor then you need to get on medicaid!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
