Can I get Lymes Disease from my dog, who recently tested positive??!

Question:

Can I get Lymes Disease from my dog, who recently tested positive??

I recently rescued a border collie, who during his first check-up, has tested positive for Lymes Disease and Anaplasmia Platys (another tick disease?). Should I be worried about getting Lymes from my dog? Also, about how long after being on antibiotics will my dog be Lymes negative? Thanks!

Answers:

You would only contract the diseases if a tick, or possibly a flea would bite you after biting the dog.

A full antibiotic course period would be the time for it to become Lyme free.

A dip should rid the dog of any parasites that still may contain Lyme infection.
