Is there a law against driving, after i had a "one-time siezure" to be!
Question:
Is there a law against driving, after i had a "one-time siezure" to be safe a neuro. cleared me. said your ok?
Answers:
I would ask your state Department of Licensing. It depends from state to state, but in the state of Washington, you MUST go six months without any seizures AT ALL before you are allowed by the state to be driving. Unlike states like California, the docs up here do NOT pull your license. In Cali, if you have a seizure, the DOC pulls your license and turns it over to the DMV. Your doc may clear you, but you have to be cleared by the state as well. Most states have their regulations on line now, because I've checked to see how the states vary -- and it's pretty dramatically.
Epilepsy.com has the list of states and links to their websites for laws about driving.
I would be very cautious about driving -- even after ONE seizure. That one seizure MAY be a "one time" event, or it may be the beginning of many. Just remember, if you're driving, and if you have a seizure, you may not just hurt yourself, you might hurt others.
