The kind of physician who works in the ER is any doctor who was eligible to specialize in Emergency Medicine!. In an ER, you might internists, a surgeon, family practitioners and a DO!. Doctors board certified in their current specilaties are preferred, be that ER, FP, IM or DO!. Experience in acute care or urgent care (or another ED) is preferred!.
The specialties I listed above are going to be more versatile and useful in this setting!. An ER psysician needs a broad knowledge base!. While a dermatologist or cardiologist, for example, may be called in on a consult you won't see them as regular staff!.
