Question:
When I was diagnosed with pancreatitis, I also had swollen organs, what is the medical term?
They said the swollen organs were caused by the pancreatitis, I was chair ridden for approx, 4 months at home with an IV in my arm, filled with vitimans, pain medication, antibotics, and insulin. Now anytime I eat, I always feel bloated and solid, in pain. I counteract this with VicodinES 3 to 5 times a day. Have been doing this for almost two year.

hi im michele a nurse, from the webgroup sphincterofoddi_pancreatitis in yahoo. first let me say im sorry for your predicament. i have chronic pancreatitis myself. let me get to your questions: first i hope you are seeing a dietician for help with eating. there is no one great way to eat with this illness so i suggest u keep a journal of food eaten, symptoms and what u did for the symptoms. the bloating u described is vert typical for maldigestion and malabsorbtion. can u take an over the counter medicine thAt contains simethecone? it relives gas. also try 6 small frequent meals. u cant take breakfast and cut it into two portions and the same for lunch and dinner. are u on pancreatic enzyme replacements? this may help also-please ask your md. if u have been taking vicoden as long as u have, you probably live in pain cycles of 4 hours or less. i bet u dont sleep well either. pain managent consult may help here. i know this all sounds like a lot of work, but if u dont do it, who will??? good luck ;)michele
