Question: If I had Meningitis, would anything show up in blood and urine testing done at the emergency room!?
For the past few days I have been sick with head ache, body ache, fever, vomiting, and a dry cough!. The E!.R!. ran some blood and urine tests, but they both came back normal!. The Dr!. mentioned that he didn't think a spinal tap would be necessary!. He thinks its just a viral infection!. As of today I have started to feel a bit better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Meningitis is the inflammation of the membranes of the brain and of the spinal cord!. To diagnose it, a spinal tap would be necessary!. Also, meningitis would not make you cough!. I would believe your doctor, especially since you are starting to feel better!. It does sound like a viral infection and those can make you feel like you're on your deathbed sometimes!. You would not be feeling better if you had meningitis!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
A blood culture is a test to detect germs such as bacteria or fungi in the blood!. One may be ordered when you haave symptoms of an infection
