Question: Will taking Metformin make you lose weight!?

I take the same dosage of metformin for PCOS as well and have been trying to concieve for 3 years!. I ahven't been taking it that long, only a few months, and I have lost 77 pounds (only 33 to go before I am at my ideal weight!)!. But metformin is a cousin to phenformin!. Phenformin was the bad ingredient in phenfen that was pulled from the market a few years ago!. I had insulin resistance and all that fun stuff along with it!. So yes, it will msot likely help you to loose weight!.
I was doing on average a 1500 calorie diet and going to the gym 4 days a week doing an hour of cardio then an hour of various weights/toning exercises and wasn't seeing results for months, started the metformin and I started dropping about 5 pounds per week just because my body was finally utilizing insulin properly!. It feels so good to finaly see results!. So keep at it!. I managed to get pregnant a couple times over the last couple of years, none of them made it past 16 weeks!. We are still actively trying while I am still loosing weight and no luck yet!.

Metformin, is used to treat diabetes and infertility!. but several recent papers show that it also helps non-diabetics to lose weight by reducing hunger!.
You may be overweight because your body makes too much insulin, especially if your store your fat primarily in your belly!. Metformin is very good at helping with PCOS!.
If it hurts your stomach you can try asking your doctor for extended release tablets!.

Weight loss may occur during therapy with metformin, perhaps as a result of its ability to cause anorexia!. (1,2) In other words; it may make you less hungry and therefore loose weight!. If you do not want to loose weight try to control your normal eating habits!. Once again the drug does not make your weight "disappear" it only may change your appetite!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
interesting, Metformin is used most often for treating diabetes!. One of the side effects is weight loss due to more efficient metabolism of the calories consumed!.!.!. I've not heard of it being used in association with fertility, or to treat PCOS!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
