Bloodshot eye?!

Bloodshot eye?
I woke up yesterday morning with a red dot in my eye, didn't think anything of it, until later in the day when my entire eye was bloodshot.
I wear contacts, and I've taken them out...but after taking them out my eye got even more red. It's painful, but not excruciating...just a dull sort of pain.
At this point it's still very red and hurting...any clue?

It could be allergies, it could be an infection, or it could be a tiny tear in your contact. Whatever it turns out to be, you need to see a doctor. Never, ever play with your eyes!
