Unsalted peanuts and diet coke!.

If he were to stick to a breakfast of ONE scrambled egg, ONE piece of toast (lightly buttered, no jelly) and tea or coffee (artificial sweetener, low-fat non-dairy creamer), he would be fine!. One BOILED egg would be better!.

Alternate days with a serving of Cheerios and skim milk, next day oatmeal with skim milk (no brown sugar), next day 1/2 a bagel with small cream cheese, next day one egg w/toast!. At least gives some variety!.

Boiled shrimp has a lot of cholesterol!. Diabetes also raises cholesterol!. Couple that with the egg he had for breakfast --- no, broiled shrimp is probably not a good idea!.

BTW-- Beef Jerky has HUGE amounts of sodium (salt) and is not good for him!. Diabtes raises blood pressure -- and so does salt!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I usually go for beef jerky (not beef sticks) or nuts, once in a while fruit (if the store carries them and they look really fresh)!. On a really rare occassion, I might get one of those jumbo dill pickles!.

I have yet to see a breakfast item at a gas station that I am allowed to have (it's hard enough to find allowable ones at McDonanlds)!.

Nice thing about being diabetic these days is that there are meal bars designed for us that can be carried anywhere!. Great to have on long trips :-)
