Your tonsils have nothing to do with the virus that causes strep throat!. I had my tonsils removed some years back and i have had strep throat a couple of times since then!. A person with tonsils probably would suffer more having the virus because their tonsils may become infected but they have the same chances of getting the virus as some one without tonsils!. Gazeygoo is right!. She can still get strep throat!. How long ago did she have her tonsils out!? If it's been recent enough that she's still recovering from surgery, then her immune system may not be strong enough to fight off your friend's son's germs!. Everyone needs to wash, wash, wash their hands to try to prevent passing it along, especially the son, and especially if he coughs into his hand(s)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Strep throat is an infection not limited to the tonsils so the answer is yes, you can definitely get a strep infection without tonsils!. Note that strep is not a virus but a bacteria, that is why it is treated with antibiotics!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Yes, you don't need tonsils to contract strep throat, so its still possible to her to get it!. I think unless she actually has strep throat, that she can't be a carrier of it though!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Absolutely, your tonsils is just one place that the Strep Virus,"Group A Streptococci" finds to play!. Many people without tonsils still get strep!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
