Is this medicine too strong? Sugar level has dropped rapidly and by a considerab!

Question: Is this medicine too strong!? Sugar level has dropped rapidly and by a considerable amount!?
My husband's glucose level was 275 on Monday after a 12 hour fast!. Dr gave him 4 mg-1000mg Avandamet 2x a day and a blood pressure and a cholesterol pill!. This morning after fasting his sugar was 162 and this evening after 3 hours without eating it was 132!. He had sensible meals today!. Is that too rapid and range a drop for him after only taking the meds since yesterday!? I called his doctor but of course, could not speak with her!. I'm waiting for a callback!. Just wondering if this seems ok to people with experience!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

!62 for a fasting is still a little high but the 132 is fairly good!. Keep checking blood sugars before meals and 2 hrs after, on arising and at bedtime!. Keep a log of the blood sugars, what and when he ate, and any exercise, then you can show his doctor and get feedback on it all!. If it starts dropping much below 90 insist on talking to his dr!. or a diabetes specialist to adjust meds and food!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know for sure, but my mom is diabetic, and I believe that 132 is in the normal range!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

no hes sugar level is still high, cause the normal sugar range is 80 to 120 anything over that is actually high,i should know im a diabeticWww@Answer-Health@Com

yes that is fine but if it starts dropping below 80 then u need to consider talking to the dr about cutting the mg's back so u don't have hypoglycemiaWww@Answer-Health@Com

That is quite a significant drop basically over night, and I am not sure I would want to give a proposal as to what it would be because I am not a professional!. I think you made the right call putting a call into the doctor!. Is he feeling sick at all, does he feel light headed, dizzy, grumpy, headache!? Sometimes when put on medication our bodies can react strangely!. However with out being sure of exactly what is going on, I think you have made the right decision and there isn't much else to do at this point, unless he is feeling very ill in which case then you should take him to a hospital or urgent care clinic, but if he is feeling alright the call to the doctor should clear up your concerns!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

no it isnt 275 is high 162 is elevated and nowadays even 132 is considered high by some standards, (but is actually safe most people walk arround with a level just slightly lower after eating)!. I am not as framilliar with the PO meds asa I am a type 1 (insulin dependant) diabetic but i wouldnt worry until the sugear is 60 or lower!.

depending on which set of lab values you go by (Im usin the ADA guidelines) normal is now condsidered 65-99mg/dl which for some people is ok but I know that I cant safely or comfortably function at a level like that as I crash low with little or no warking!.
having recently statrted on an insulin pump I find that as long as im between 120 -150 MG/dL Im ok !.Www@Answer-Health@Com
