Need help telling a partner that I have Genital Herpes. Has anyone got any advise?

I have been seeing a man on and off for 2 years. I have only recently found out that I have genital herpes. I've had it for about 6 years from what I can figure. I love this man and don't want him to walk away but I am worried that he will think i've tricked him by not telling him. Any advise?

It sounds as if you have been with him for a long enough time that trust must be expected. I know how hard it must be to tell someone something, not only potentially damaging to a relationship, but also a bit embarrising. But the keyword is potenial. If you do not tell him and he finds out, then the relationship ending is definite. I suggest you simply sit down with him, take a deep breath, and without making a BIG deal about it or excuses as to how this happened, simply tell him.

I am sure that he will be a bit confused and taken back, but if he loves you as well, then together things will work out just fine. And if not, and the worst case scenario happens (he leaves) then that may turn out to be the best case scenario since true love stands by you not only at the best times but ALWAYS at the hardest.
