My current female interest has cervical cancer, how do I accept that?!

Question:

My current female interest has cervical cancer, how do I accept that?

I just met a few weeks ago and am going to go spend a few days in a her cabin next month. I don't know the extent of her illness but I feel like I could get attached too her. It's not that I want to stay away from her because she sick. But how do I accept that fact that she is probably not going to be ok? :( I'm lost with this.

From what I understand this is the second year she had it. I have friends with cancer. I know its not a death sentence but cervical cancer is particularly bad. I did my research when I found out and read that most women don't live 5 years after diagnosis.

It seems like most of you are looking at me as this selfish pessimistic guy. I would never stay away from a person because of an illness. Like I said, we're going on vacation together next month and I'm expecting to get attached. I just wanted to know how to accept that. My facts came from wiki and mayo clinic and although I was half asleep while reading I'm pretty sure thats what I read. Thanks though.

Meh. It's morning and I hopped on the defensive. Reading through that again. I was just being an ***.

Answers:

I don't really see an issue. First of all, I would be optimistic because that is the kind of influence she needs and KNOW that she is going to be okay. Secondly, this disease has nothing to do with her personality and her looks and the way she makes you feel. If she didn't have a disease you would want to be with her right? So be with her! Even if she doesn't turn out alright, which is unlikely, and which you need to help her believe is unlikely, at least you got to spend her last bit of time together and enjoying life to its fullest. Pretend she doesn't have it and then make your decision.
