When you have a cold you are told to avoid dairy, BUT...?!

Question: When you have a cold you are told to avoid dairy, BUT!.!.!.!?
I know that the reason to do this is because milk from cows creates a mucus lining over your tongue, worsening the symptoms!.
But what bout milks of plant origin!? Like soy, almond and rice milk, does the rule still apply!?
I have a cold, don't drink cows milk is it still the same rule!? ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think it creates enough of a problem unless you are immuno-compromised!. In other words, unless you have some sort of immune disorder, then drinking milk shouldn't be a big deal, I've never had a problem with it, but I also have a healthy and functioning immune system!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

When my son was a toddler he was regularly getting ear infections!. The health nurse said to lay off dairy to see if it's mucus filling the little ear tube then getting infected!. I swapped him to soy milk and he hasn't had a sore ear since (he's now 12)!. So I'd say it's only the dairy that's the problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have never heard of this I just had a cold and I drank milk everyday of it, I also went to the gym and ran 4 miles and lifted everyday so I think this to be incorrectWww@Answer-Health@Com
