Answers:
Contrary to the more common of belief, the correct answer is no- not really!.

However, your question warrants the issue with ALT and AST levels!. This test is widely used to determine how healthy you are!. It is conducted to see how the liver is in a LIVER PANEL TEST!. The issue with HCV is that many of us went undiagnosed because our ALT and AST levels appeared normal or flucuated between lab tests!. So in the sense of ALT and AST, your HCV infection could of gone undetected if there were no elevated results!.

So, the doctor would never know to test you for antibodies for HCV infection because your Liver Panel test was normal!.

Most PCP doctors do not know the correlation to the issue, this is why so many go undiagnosed!.

So yes, you can go undiagnosed, misdiagnosed, etc!.

Also, normal enzymes (alt and ast) doesn't mean one can go without symptoms of HCV infection!. Often those symptoms are diagnosed as seperate diseases!.

So, Yes, you can go undiagnosed and yes, many are mis-diagnosed because of the ALT / AST level in a liver panel test!.

One main reason why everyone should be tested!. The other reason is that everyone has at least one risk factor- and I am not talking about the more common ways one can acquire HCV!. I am simply talking about those instances where someones blood may have entered the bloodstream- and exposure to blood happens every day whether we know it or not!. Handle money (lots of germs and bacteria and viruses, but also blood particles)!? Scratch yourself!? Make yourself bleed!? It's a long shot, but not impossible to acquire hcv that way!. (cross contamination happens daily, however with hcv it always has to involve blood to bloodstream cross contamination)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!.

The blood tests done by your physician likely would not include a Hep C antibody test and even if he examined your liver enzymes, a significant percentage of people with chronic Hep C have normal liver enzymes!. Hep C also does not transmit efficiently during childbirth, so the chances are good that if you were Hep C positive, your child would not be!. Though, if that is the case, the child should be tested to make sure!.

I know people who have had Hep C for more than 25 years before any symptoms appear!. And not everyone with chronic Hep C will progress to cirrhosis!.

So, the answer to your question is yes!. And it is not uncommon!.

It highly unlikely!.!.!.!.!.!.but I suppose it's possible!. Hepatitis is a blood borne virus which affects the liver!. Many people have it for say 6 months and don't realise, thats not uncommon, but after 10 years you would have had symptoms by now!. Usually hep C is tested for when someone presents with abnormal liver function tests, or symptoms which cannot be explained!. Blood testing for hep C is used, but remember that unless they're looking for it, they might not find it!.

If you're concerned that you may have hep C then you MUST see a doctor soon!. Around 2/3 of people with hep C develop some sort of liver cirrosis!. Anti-viral medication can stop the disease in its track so see someone now!. Good Luck x Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes it is VERY possible!. There are thousands (probably even a much higher number) of people in this country alone that have Hep C and do not know it!. Many people do not have symptoms!. Having normal blood work done through the years can happen!.!.!.usually doctors only run CBC and don't do liver function tests, which would be one of the first indications that something may be wrong!. Going with to Hep C support group meetings and classes with my husband, I have met many people that this has happen to!. Even my husband, who has Hep C, never had any symptoms!. He has only just started more fatigued than usual over the past few years!. He got Hep C in Viet Nam!. Hep C is often called a silent disease because so many people do not have symptoms!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
