Is the amoxicillin working?!

Question: Is the amoxicillin working!?
Last Friday I went to work and through the course of the day I noticed I was getting an ear infection!.

I was going to ignore it and let my body deal with it but that pain got to be to much so I went to the clinic!.

The doctor looked in my ear and prescribed amoxicillin!. I have been taking it as directed since Friday which is 3 pills a day at morning noon and night!.

My condition has been getting worst or so it appears!. I lost my hearing in the infected ear on Sunday morning!. Last night I noticed the left side of my face was looking swollen and today it remains swollen and is incredibly tender to the touch!. The only part that has gotten better is the pain!. The chronic pain is much less and actually goes away sometimes!. However it has been replaced by random incredibly painful spurts

How long should it take for the amoxicillin to work!? I got it the very day I had begun getting symptoms!.

If by Thursday I am not better I'm going back the the doctorsWww@Answer-Health@Com

The doctors give their patients the lowest dose of antibiotics to start with in order to ensure that they do not use things any stronger than they need to!.
In your case, I think you do need something stronger, and much stronger if it is getting like you say it is!.

That is possible to obtain by prescription if you explain to the doctor your increasing symptoms clear concisely, while stating how many biotics you have taken so far and when!.

You should have noticed a remarkable drop in symptoms within 2 days AS LONG AS you have been taking it right on schedule!. For a 3X/day prescription, you should be taking it every 8 hours so it is always in your system!. If you're letting it go 12 hours or more between the night & morning dose, that could be your problem!. Amoxicillin never worked for my son's ear infections - they always had to jump to something stronger!. It really depends on your resistance & how often you are prescribed antibiotics!. GO BACK TO THE PHYSICIAN IMMEDIATELY!!!
also, make sure you are eating the right foods that are compatible with this antibiotic!. try eating light: soups, fresh vegetable juices, fruit, etc!.
but, with those symptoms, I would return to the attending physician!. I am not a doctor, but, my mother was!. so, i have been in the medical environment all my life!.

Yes as the others mention better see your Doctor again as soon as possible, you didn't mention whether your amoxicillin is 250 or 500 mg,anyway don't worry you will get better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The directions on your meds should say that if conditions to not improve or seem to worsen, see your doctor immediately!. Don't wait, get in now!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

GO TO THE ER! Sounds like an allergic reaction!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Antibiotics take 48 - 72 hours to achieve minimum inhibitory concentration levels in blood to become effective against the invading organism!.Ear infection ( otitis media ),an upper respiratory tract infection, is a tedious infection to eradicate and takes a longer time!.There are not many antibiotics which penetrate into otitis media and amoxicilline is one of the best!.In adults, in a dose of 500mg!.three times a day ( i!.e!.eight hourly ) it achieves a success rate as high as 88%!.I hope you are taking an anti inflamatory-analgesic agent like ibuprofen with it!.So persist with it as per your doctor's recommendation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
