Yes, diet and exercise are important - (get some aerobic exercise, 3-5 times a week if poss, and have a high fibre diet, using wholegrains and minimizing animal products - apparently the vegan diet is cholesterol free) BUT - a large % of cholesterol is produced by your own liver, regardless of diet and exercise, so, if you are already doing a reasonable job (no one is expecting anyone to be some raw vegan marathon runner :0 !!!!!) then cholesterol tablets (statins) are a great choice!.

Try eating more low cholesterol foods and foods with lower sodium!. Also try eating some flax seeds or walnuts which are high in omega 3 fatty acids which can remove excess plaque in your arteries!. Eat Fish like Salmon, Cod, or any other fish with high levels of Omega 3 fatty acids, Try drinking green tea, try Exercising more often, and PUT DOWN THE FORK AFTER DINNER AND DON'T GO FOR SECONDS!. It's not unusual to have to take something for it and can be regulated and lowered easily enough!.
