Mononucleosis?!

Question:

Mononucleosis?

Has anyone had it and why/how long will it last...symptoms?!? Any other info.

Answers:

I had it when I was 6 yrs old. I'm not sure how I got it, but it is fairly contagious and you can get it from contact with an infected person, or their fluids -- hence it's called the kissing disease. It's a lousy disease to have. It lasts quite a long time, one to three months. Toward the end, it has flare ups so that you feel better and then you're down again for a couple days. There are lots of symptoms, but the worst is the extreme fatigue. Other symptoms are swollen glands, enlarged spleen, sore throat, nausea, fever, high white blood cell count, achiness, and headache. There is a test for it, available in doctor's offices, but there is no real treatment except for rest, and the usual things just to relieve the symptoms. Hope you don't have it.
