For about 4 years I have had a major problem with bread and swallowing!.
First I though it was celiacs or wheat allergy!. But I can eat biscuits or muffins ( they have soda or baking powder to raise them) American biscuits are not cookies as in the UK!. They are a raised unsweetened bread, made with baking powder!. This is a response to the person who thought biscuits were sweet!.

I finally figured out that it must be the Yeast not the flour!. I truly sympathize with this challenge!. I am still trying to get mine resolved!.
I only occasionally have the throat constriction!. But even now I cannot be sure when and what will cause it!.

Friday I tried to eat of sample at Publix grocery!. It was veggies and turkey breast in gravy and the minute I put it in my mouth my throat constricted completely!. The first time this happened was with a fresh bread Subway sandwich!. My throat closed completly around the food!.
So I have come to believe that the chemicals they put in some of our food could be the enemy!.

I have learned that even when your throat is constricted you can still breathe through your nose perfectly!. It has helped for me to take very small bites and chew till they are mush!. They they go down ok!.

Ironically My Mother had this same problem, they did a thing in the sixties called "Throat stretching"!. Doctors don't you just love them!?
So apparently I inherited it!. She learned to eat small bites and very slowly to avoid it!.

It is possible it is not a wheat allergy but yeast!. Analyse every thing thoughly and you can probably figure it out for your self!.

One other thing, does he eat ANYTHING with artificial SWEETENERS such as ASPARTAME in it!? My Husband is diabetic and so we got it in lots of things!. In the spring I got the flu and didn't eat much for 10 days!. I had previously been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia!. Well when I stopped the aspartame All of my pain went away!. It has now
been gone 9 months by eating only Splenda and sugar as a sweetener!.

The point of that story is that your son may be allergic to something besides wheat !.!.!. Consider the yeast or possibly any sweeteners that he gets regularly!. (the really weird thing is that Aspartame is made from ANT POISON) Unbelievable don't you think!? So anylyse thoroughly!.

Good Luck in keeping you boy well and happy!.

I'm not sure what a gluten challenge is!?!?!? I imagine the doctor wants to include something with gluten to see how your son reacts!. Yes, biscuits aren't really that healthy because of the sugar, but if it's just Gluten content the doctor wants, you could always use a savoury biscuit (like cream cracker in UK) or just a slice of bread!. Both contain gluten!.

My sister is coeliac and cannot eat anything with gluten, so makes all her own bread, pastry etc with gluten free flour!. There are societies that give help with diets and list foods that are suitable!. She is perfectly healthy but has to be careful about eating out, or pre-packaged foods!. Even packets like soups can contain gluten!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

most people eat bread during a gluten challenge, knowing full well if the challenge is positive, they will back to prescription bread, which to those who have CD or are parents to kids with CD (thats me) know that the bread is at best okay, not great!.

"normal" pasta, cakes and biscuits are very well substituted with gluten free replacements, but the bread is pretty average!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Does he have gluten enteropathy or coeliac disease!. In this case the least of his worries is a few biscuits!. Just follow the doc's instructions!. I am sure he will survive this ordeal!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You might be able to go for a slice or something but thatmight be too much whereas a biscuit might be able to give him the right dose!.

The ANZAC biscuit might be ok!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
