Is it normal to not poop for a while after having the stomach flu?!

Question: Is it normal to not poop for a while after having the stomach flu!?
I was in the hospital Tuesday for dehydration from the flu!. I was able to eat a little on Wednesday and was back to normal today!.
I haven't had a bowel movement since Tuesday!. Should I contact a doctor in the morning or is this normal sounding!?

Answers:
You sort of have two strikes against you here!. One, not having a lot of food passing through you due to the flu, and two, the dehydration which causes constipation!. If you are getting lots of water/fluids and are now eating, try adding bran to your diet, metamucil or stool softeners if you don't have one by tomorrow!. A person can go many days without "going" under your conditions, longer if you are off food!. Since you said that you were back to normal eating, give it another day and then try the metamucil and stool softeners!. Over the weekend, if you feel like you have to go but can't, take a laxative, but a mild one!. (the other option is an enema but many people don't prefer that route) Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds pretty normal, probably because you're not eating very much, so there's not much to expel!. However I understand if you're concerned, and just to be safe, you should at least call your doctor!. I don't think a visit would be entirely necessary, but I'm not a doctor at all!. I can have you know, though, that even when i've been perfectly healthy, this has happened to me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think you have anything to worry about just yet, provided you have no other symptoms!. If you really want to poop, drink a lot of water and eat some high-fiber food!. Just try to get back to your regular diet and drink plenty of fluids!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

1: You didn't have the stomach flu!.There is no such thing as it is not related to the flu!.

You had Norwalk virus!.

Yes, it could be normal to not have BM after the stomach virus!.

How often did you have a BM before!?

Info on prevention:

The Norwalk virus is known as the nasty 24 hour bug that causes and sudden watery diarrhea and/or vomiting!.Usually non life threating but can cause complications in the very young, elderly and those with compromised immune systems!.

PREVENTION-Wash your hands before preparing food/eating food and most importantly, TOUCHING YOUR MOUTH/NOSE/EYES!.

The ONLY way to become infected with this virus is if you ingest the contaminated fecal/vomit particles through your eyes, nose and mouth!.

It is impossible to "breathe" in the virus BUT possible to become infected by breathing in aerosol "spray" droplets from someone vomiting right next to you!.(the droplets settle within minuted but can still infect someone until cleaned with bleach)

Even if your whole family breaks out with this virus, you can prevent it by washing your hands for at least 15-20 seconds with warm water and soap!.Remember that you are not killing the virus, you are washing it down the drain even if you use an antibacterial soap (which only kills bacteria, not viruses) hand sanitizers are also not successful in killing the virus!.

If a member of your family comes down with the virus, let them know to wash their hands AFTER a bowel movement and vomiting!.

To clean infected areas, clean with BLEACH!.Clean bathrooms (all infected areas) with a bleach solution as soon as possible and be sure to prevent cross contamination and wash your hands afterwards!.Especially children! wipe down all commonly touched objects like door knobs, faucet handles, light switches, toilet flushers etc!.

People are STILL contagious even after 24 hours after their symptoms settle down so it is always important to wash your hands after the rest room (which you should do anyways!)

The key to staying Norwalk virus free is to keep sanitary!.Wash your hands after using the bathroom!.!.!.you could prevent other peoples misery as well as yours!!
