Oh you poor thing!. Cold Sores are a HSV-1 virus that once you have it unfortunately you have it for life!. The virus remains dormant and flairs up at times when the infected person is under a lot of stress!. Not getting enough sleep will bring them on along with not eating right!. Probably best to look at your lifestyle as perhaps you have been under a lot of stress lately!? Taking a cold sore out in the sun will only worsen the infection too so try and keep the area covered up!. I would suggest too that if you have had multiple outbreaks around the same time that you make sure you don't touch the cold sore and then touch other parts of your skin as you will only spread them!. There are some great topical creams out there that you can pop on as soon as you feel the tingling!. These can almost stop the cold sore from forming at all or at least lesson the length of time they hang around!. I know in Australia you can get them over the counter at the Chemist however in some countries you must get a prescription from your doctor!. I would suggest a trip to your doctor if you are getting them as chronically as you are!. Best of luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't lick or touch your lips!. If you do touch your lips make sure to wash your hands immediately!. Especially don't touch your eyes or your genitals (or anyone else's)!.

At the first sign, put ice on it!. This will hurt after a few minutes!. You'll have to deal with the pain for a few minutes!. Take the ice off after 5-10 minutes, wait 5 minutes & put it on again for 5-10 minutes!. Do this for an hour twice a day!.

Use Abreva!. It works!.

Moisturize your lips!. Carmex is the best!. Use a q-tip to put it on with!. Use it weather you have a cold sore or not!.

Get a new toothbrush as soon as your cold sore is gone!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Theoretically there is no way to prevent them!.

Though I hesitate to give rather unscientific and unproven advice, anecdotally both myself and other doctors of my acquaintance, get the impression that an occasional course of oral antivirals such as Valaciclovir does extend the period between attacks!. 500mg twice daily for 5
